shower cubicle renovation that brought a tired and mould-affected shower back to life — without the need for costly new tiles or refitting.
The Problem: Persistent Mould, Grimy Grout & Damaged Silicone
The client contacted us after struggling with recurring mould in their shower. The grout was discoloured, the silicone around the base and edges had black mould stains, and even the ceiling above the shower had become affected.
This is a common issue in modern bathrooms — especially in areas with poor ventilation or heavy use. Mould isn’t just unsightly; it can also impact your health, especially for those with allergies or respiratory conditions.
Our Process: Deep Cleaning, Sealing & Silicone Replacement
We carried out a complete shower deep clean and restoration, using specialist tile and stone cleaning products to lift dirt, grime, and mould from the tile surfaces and grout joints. This included:
- Professional mould remover applied to the affected grout lines and silicone edges
- Deep cleaning of wall tiles and grout, including hard-to-reach corners
- Impregnating sealer applied to the cleaned shower area to protect the surface from moisture and future staining
- Professional silicone sealant replacement inside the shower cubicle: around the shower base and internal corners
The client also asked for help with the mould on the painted ceiling above the shower — something we don’t usually handle as tile and stone specialists. But in this case, we made an exception. The mould had penetrated the ceiling paint and left visible staining. After carefully cleaning the affected area, we advised repainting the ceiling with an appropriate mould-resistant paint — completing the fresh, clean look.
The Result: A Hygienic, Refreshed Shower Cubicle
The shower now looks almost as good as new, and most importantly, it's once again a clean, healthy space for daily use. The client no longer has to worry about mould returning immediately, and the fresh silicone lines have helped sharpen the overall look of the bathroom.
