We received an enquiry from our customer in New Mills Art Theatre, Derbyshirewho just had bought this small theatre house and he discovered this lovely Terrazzo Floor from underneath the carpet. On arrival customer was worried that he has to cover it up again but we assured that the Terrazzo Floor can be cleaned, polished and seal. Also some cracks and holes needed filling. After completing my tester he booked us in.

For terrazzocleaning we used diamond burnishing pads fitted under the rotary machine. On this stone floor we started with 200 grit as it needed a bit stronger cleaning. First it was necessary to remove the carpet holding sticks around the walls with our HBO Cleaner combined with Steamer.

Once we finished with steamer we started burnishing the terrazzo stone floor. Started with the 200 grit and moved up to 400, 800, 1500 and 3000 grits. Each burnishing pad gets finer and finer leaving a nice and even polished finish at the end. When Terrazzo Floor is polished it's much easier to keep up with everyday maintenance.
After all Cleaning and Polishing the stone, we had to fill in all holes and cracks in this terrazzo floor. For this we used Flexible filler which we mixed with terrazzo powder to get a stone like look.

For sealingthe terrazzo floor we used Solvent Based Colour Enhancing Impregnating Sealer. The sealer Enhanced the natural colours in the floor and left a really nice look. We applied 4 coats of the impregnating sealer and after each coat we polished off the excess left on the stone surface with white cotton cloths.

Sometimes, even small mistakes during tiling can create major problems. One of our clients recently experienced this when their tiler failed to seal the tiles and did not properly clean off excess grout and adhesive. The result was a persistent grout haze that seemed impossible to remove. After consulting two professional cleaning companies , the client was told the haze had seeped into the porous tiles , making it essentially permanent.
