OLD QUARRY TILE FLOOR CLEANING AND SEALING IN WILMSLOW, CHESHIRE, SK9

Our customer had just bought a auction house with this beautiful quarrytile floor in Wilmslow , Cheshire. Wilmslow is a shopper’s paradise. From designer boutiques and upmarket interior designers, to chic charity shops and Hoopers department store, Wilmslow is a small place with a big attitude. Foodies won’t be disappointed after a trip to Wilmslow either, as it's blessed with many amazing restaurants and bars.
When doing our free survey service for our customer I completed a quick cleaning tester to show what results can be archieved with this quarry floor. We both were happy with the tester results and booked dates to complete the job.

As I already completed the cleaning tester, I knew what product to use. For cleaning this quarry tile floor I used a strong mix of ourGrout Clean-Up cleaner. It contains concentrated phosphoric acid and cleaner designed to penetrate below the surface to remove light grout smears (grout haze), mineral deposits, rust stains and efflorescence. This product is also effective for the removal of most hard water stains, lime deposits and soap scum.
I sprayed the product on tiles and left to dwell in for about 5 minutes and then scrubbed with strong scrubbing pad fitted to rotary machine. As the machine won't get deep into texture and grout lines, I had to use my wire brush to clean these areas. After scrubbing all soiled water got removed with wet vacuum and then I floor got rinsed couple more times with clean water.
Some areas and edges were still not clean from cement and plaster so I had to get out my steamer to clean them. I mixed steaming with my original grout clean-up cleaner and scrubbing with wire brush, followed by rinising the area. This system worked as a treat and completed my hard day of cleaning. Quarry floor then got left to dry for two days.

When we returned to seal this floor after two days of drying, we quickly checked the dampness in tiles with our damp tester and found few problem areas. For damp areas we used our heat gun to dry them out, it took us a while but we archieved the required result.
For sealing we used our breathable film forming topical sealer, as we weren't sure if there's a damp proof membraine underneath the floor. In total this floor took 4 coats of the sealer with half an hour drying time between coats.

I think it's fair to say this floor has been transformed and our customer can finally use this room now.
